We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of our property portfolio. This role is responsible for managing full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance across multiple properties or entities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of property management accounting, and the ability to drive accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities will include:
Primary Job Duties:
Accounting:
- Post and review journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
- Assist in prepare accurate monthly financial statements by property.
- Assist with property budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Support year-end audit and tax processes with external accountants.
- Improve processes, controls, and reporting in a practical, scalable manner.
Desirable Requirements:
Leasing:
- Leasing expert, working with landlords and legal counsel to secure terms that set as formats long-term success.
- Experience with executing lease agreements, tracking rent escalations and tenant incentives will be considered an asset.
- Experience with leading the end-to-end leasing process will be considered an asset.
- Experience with updating and reviewing rent rolls as per lease will be considered an asset.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of commercial leasing through hands-on experience in the field. Don’t need to be a veteran.
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
- Strong full-cycle accounting and period-end close experience.
- Working toward CPA or Diploma/Degree in real estate/property management.
