MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Masters degree in Architecture is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experienced in the research of community based organizations required.
- Experience in the understanding and development of Community Design Centres across North America is required.
- Experience in research and education of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion issues in the field of Architecture is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal is required.
- Research experience in a collaborative & interdisciplinary environment is required.
- Skilled in cultural and artistic practices in Indigenous design preferred.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Research existing community design centres.
- Prepare documentation based on research of community design centres across North America, including comparison and analysis of business models, relationships to universities, and facilities and opportunities for community and student engagement.
- Collaboratively develop and author the mission and vision for the Centre.
- Research and prepare a proposal of the potential areas of expertise for the community design centre from within the Faculty of Architecture, as well as potential partners in other faculties at the University of Manitoba.
- Research current faculty-community partnerships in the Faculty of Architecture.
- Coordinate and communicate with potential partners within the University community, Winnipeg, and greater Manitoba regions, especially Indigenous and underserved communities.
- Assist the Faculty Elder on the calendar of ceremonies project.
- Assist the Faculty Elder on other special projects, which includes attending meetings, preparation of presentations and follow up with plans for future projects.
- Provide research/information to assist in the development of the Faculty reconciliation action plan.
- Support the Department Head in professional program accreditation, which includes: the organization and display of student visual work (analog and digital), preparation of reports and gathering and organizing of source materials for preparation of the Academic program review (SER).
- Other duties as assigned.
Variable Schdule 8:30a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
