Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Assistant teachers to join our team. This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with preschool children in a dynamic summer camp environment, supporting their learning and recreational activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, enjoy engaging in educational activities, and possess skills in tutoring, teaching, or early childhood education. Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers and camp staff in planning and executing daily activities and lessons
- Support children during recreational, educational, and creative activities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment
- Provide tutoring or educational support tailored to individual children's needs when necessary
- Supervise children during outdoor play, meals, and transitions between activities
- Help maintain a clean and organized activity space and camp facilities
- Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging participation and social interaction
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times and report any concerns to supervising staff
Requirements
- MUST be Canadian citizen or permanent resident and between the ages of 15 and 30.
- Must have Police Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR-C, Immunization Record(including a 2-step TB Test)
- Prior experience working with children, including tutoring, teaching, or early childhood education is preferred
- Passion for working with children and creating engaging learning experiences
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Responsible, reliable, and attentive to safety procedures
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities effectively
- Must be at least 18 years old or oldervailability during summer months with flexibility for scheduled camp hours
