Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre Society is seeking two caring and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECEAs) to join the Friendship Centre Cub House team.
Under the guidance of the Lead ECE and Early Childhood Educators, the ECEA supports the delivery of culturally responsive programming and contributes to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for children and families. This role assists with daily routines, learning activities, and the overall well-being of children while helping to create meaningful connections with families and community.
The ECEA plays an important role in supporting children's growth, development, cultural identity, and sense of belonging through positive relationships and engaging learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support and Program Delivery
- Assist educators in implementing age-appropriate learning experiences and daily activities.
- Support cultural programming, storytelling, songs, crafts, and land-based learning opportunities.
- Help prepare and maintain learning materials, classroom displays, and activity areas.
- Assist with indoor and outdoor activities while ensuring children's safety and engagement.
- Support educators in creating welcoming and inclusive learning environments.
Child Well-Being and Relationship Building
- Build caring, respectful, and positive relationships with children.
- Support children's emotional well-being, social development, and self-confidence.
- Provide gentle guidance and assistance during transitions, routines, and daily activities.
- Assist children with meals, dressing, toileting, handwashing, and other self-care routines as needed.
- Promote positive interactions and respectful behaviour.
Family and Community Engagement
- Interact respectfully with parents, caregivers, Elders, and community members.
- Support family participation in cultural activities, celebrations, and special events.
- Assist with preparing materials and spaces for community gatherings and family engagement opportunities.
- Contribute to creating a welcoming environment for all families.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the Lead ECE, ECEs, Infant/Toddler Educators, ASCD staff, and other support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Share observations and concerns regarding children's well-being with supervising educators.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture.
Health and Safety
- Follow Child Care Licensing Regulations, centre policies, and health and safety procedures.
- Assist in maintaining clean, safe, and organized learning environments.
- Support daily cleaning and sanitizing routines.
- Follow emergency procedures and report incidents promptly.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid BC Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate or Responsible Adult (RA) qualification.
- Current First Aid Certification.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Medical Clearance.
Preferred
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, educational, or community setting.
- Experience working in Indigenous communities or early learning environments.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, language, and community-based approaches to learning.
- Familiarity with the BC Early Learning Framework.
