PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and the coordination of capital projects from defining the scope of work with users and development of budgets through planning and executing the project for occupancy by end users.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
Planning
- Planning multiple projects in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinating and preparing in conjunction with internal and external stake holders Ministry of Health and Ontario Health submissions as defined in the Hospital Capital Policy and Planning Manual for various capital projects
- Updating and monitoring budgets
- Updating and monitoring schedules and other planning documents as required.
Executing
- Participate in project tendering phase with consultants
- Monitor compliance with the project design and mandate
- Coordinate implementation of construction with users, facility team, infection control, occupational health, etc.
- Coordinate stakeholders/consultants/contactors bi-weekly meetings
- Track and report progress to completion
Ministry of Health and Ontario Health Submissions
- Prepare Ministry of Health submissions as required by Ministry of Health and Ontario Health
- Determine appropriate submissions with guidance from Director of Capital Projects and Planning as defined by the Ministry of Health Hospital Capital Policy and Planning
Scoping
- Ensuring scope of work aligns with the master plan
- Finalize scope of work and coordinate stakeholder sign off
- Develop project budgets for approvals
- Develop project schedules and other planning documents for approval
Close Out
- Obtain endorsement and approval from relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate final walk through/sign off with stakeholders
- Ensure the delivery of close-out manuals to Facilities
- Coordinate and record a lessons learned session

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires completion of University Degree, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3 - 5 years of progressive experience managing healthcare capital or redevelopment projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, interest holder coordination, and project delivery within an active clinical environment.
- Strong Knowledge of Planning & Construction: Knowledge to understand the scope and needs of our clients and how that impacts any other areas of the organization. To be able to understand and communicate expectations to consultants and deliver on budget and on time
- Strong knowledge of MoH Capital Planning process: Knowledge to communicate the planning process to the organization and apply it through each stage of the MoH process as required.
- Coordination: Responsible for all the parts of planning of capital projects; scheduling team meetings, developing budgets, high level to detail schedules, Ministry submissions, Track and report.
- Up to date knowledge of CSA Standards: CSA Standards are forever evolving, and we need to understand how this affects the design of projects. Although the responsibility lies with our consultants to include these, the team is responsible to identify the needs and how the Standards affect the project.
- Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are needed to articulate details for every part of the planning of projects, those skills are just important to listen and understand our clients/consultants and contractors.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and IPAC regulations: A strong knowledge of the OBC to assist in understanding how this affects project planning. Examples include life safety, accessibility and occupancy loads to name only a few. An understanding of IPAC requirements is also an asset.

- Proven ability to attend work regularly.
- Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
