Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all machined and fabricated components meet BP Machine’s dimensional, visual, and documentation standards before they move to the next stage or ship to customers. This role performs incoming, in‑process, and final inspections, identifies non‑conforming material, and works closely with machinists and production staff to maintain accuracy and consistency across all jobs.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, comfortable with tight tolerances, and experienced with precision measurement tools in a machining environment.
What you’ll do:
- Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections on machined parts, weldments, and assemblies.
- Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, dial indicators, and other shop inspection equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, machining prints, and GD&T requirements.
- Verify part dimensions, surface finish, thread specifications, and overall conformity.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
- Identify and tag non‑conforming material; complete NCR documentation and communicate issues to supervisors.
- Support first article inspections (FAI) for new or revised components.
- Work with machinists to resolve quality issues and prevent rework.
- Ensure all measuring tools are calibrated, maintained, and stored properly.
- Assist with customer or internal audits when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized inspection area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and workflow.
What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years’ experience in machining, manufacturing, or quality inspection.
- Experience in a CNC machining environment is strongly preferred.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience an asset.
- ASQ CQT or similar certification considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols accurately.
- High attention to detail and consistency.
- Strong communication skills when working with machinists and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections at once.
- Solid documentation and data‑entry skills.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to identify root causes
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
