About Sister Sophie
Sister Sophie is a leading K–12 academic enrichment institute in the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in literacy, literature, writing, and critical thinking. We integrate high-quality educational resources in Ontario to support students’ English language development, academic confidence, and long-term competitiveness in Canada and abroad.
With over 13 years of experience, Sister Sophie has served more than 1,100 students and currently supports over 300 students across Canada and China. Our programs are designed to help students build strong foundations in reading, writing, literary understanding, and independent thinking, while developing the skills needed for continued academic success.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated onsite Math/Science Teacher to join our school faculty. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Ontario secondary school math/science courses, a strong understanding of current scientific developments, and the ability to inspire students to think critically and analytically.
Responsibilities
- Teach science courses in alignment with the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum (Math, Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics).
- Prepare engaging lessons that promote inquiry-based learning and scientific literacy.
- Design and administer assessments in accordance with Ontario Ministry standards.
- Support student success through differentiated instruction and individualized guidance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and share best practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Math, Science, Education, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- Qualification to teach AP Calculus, AP Statistics, IB AA / AI and Senior Science (Intermediate/Senior division preferred).
- Able to teach fully onsite at our Markham location, with regular availability on weekdays after 4:00 p.m. and on weekends.
- Proven experience teaching high school math and science in Ontario or a comparable system.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Preferred
- Experience with IB (International Baccalaureate) or AP (Advanced Placement) science programs is highly desirable.
- Experience in private, international, or college preparatory schools.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
