About the Firm
Our client is a well-established, full-service British Columbia law firm with approximately 120 employees across its Vancouver and Surrey offices. The firm is committed to delivering a high standard of client service while maintaining a professional, collaborative, and supportive workplace.
The firm is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join its Information Technology team.
This is a fully in-office position. Hybrid and remote work arrangements are not available.
Position Summary
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of the firm’s IT infrastructure, cloud environment, and enterprise systems.
This individual will serve as the operational lead for the IT team, coordinating day-to-day priorities while ensuring that systems remain secure, stable, and aligned with the firm’s operational needs.
The Senior Systems Administrator will also act as the final escalation point for complex technical and infrastructure issues and will work closely with the Director of Technology on cybersecurity, vendor management, technology planning, and ongoing system improvements.
Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure and Systems Operations
- Maintain and support the firm’s core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, storage, and enterprise systems
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of systems across both offices
- Oversee system patching, upgrades, preventative maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery processes
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and infrastructure requirements
- Identify and recommend improvements to system reliability, security, and efficiency
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and system records
Cybersecurity
- Support and enforce the firm’s cybersecurity controls, policies, and standards
- Monitor the security posture of the firm’s infrastructure and cloud environment
- Identify vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation activities
- Assist with security audits, compliance requirements, risk assessments, and incident response
- Work with internal stakeholders and external providers to strengthen the firm’s security environment
IT Team Coordination
- Establish and coordinate daily and weekly priorities for the IT team
- Manage workload distribution, coverage, and escalation processes
- Provide technical guidance and direction to other IT team members
- Help ensure that technical requests, incidents, and projects are addressed efficiently
- Act as the operational point of contact when the Director of Technology is unavailable
Technical Escalation and Support
- Serve as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure, systems, and network issues
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts for critical technical incidents
- Provide hands-on technical support for high-priority and business-critical matters
- Guide team members through advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Participate in occasional after-hours support for scheduled maintenance or critical incidents
Vendor and Technology Management
- Coordinate with technology vendors, consultants, and managed service providers
- Assist with evaluating, selecting, and implementing new technologies
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure services meet the firm’s operational requirements
- Support technology projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements
- Maintain awareness of future capacity, security, and technology needs
Qualifications and Experience
- Seven to ten years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure management, or a related senior IT role
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience with networking, virtualization, storage, cloud services, and backup solutions
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices, security controls, and risk management
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and systems issues
- Experience coordinating IT priorities, workloads, and escalation processes
- Strong organizational, documentation, and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced professional environment
- Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment is considered an asset

Work Arrangement

Pay: $100,000.00-$112,500.00 per year
