The Sundance Lake Residents Association (“SLRA”) is seeking a full-time seasonal Aquatic Plant Mitigation Coordinator to join our Grounds Division for the 2026 summer season.
This seasonal position will commence on June 1, 2026 and conclude on August 31, 2026.
About the Role
SLRA is a 46-year-old lake community that has over time, experienced increased nitrogen and phosphorus levels in the lake water, creating operational challenges in maintaining optimal water quality for residents and visitors.
As part of an environmental improvement initiative, SLRA will be conducting a pilot project focused on the permanent removal of some excess nutrients through seasonal aquatic plant removal. This project plays an important role in improving lake health and enhancing recreational enjoyment for the community.
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on individual to coordinate and participate in this initiative and support operational success throughout the season.
This position pays $20/hr
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Aquatic Plant Mitigation Coordinator will:
- Follow all SLRA policies and procedures, including respectful workplace, health, safety, and environmental policies
- Communicate professionally with staff, residents and community members
- Supervise and coordinate a team of up to 5 seasonal staff
- Assist with the removal of aquatic plants from the lake using weed rakes and weed cutters supplied by SLRA
- Dispose of removed plant material in approved composting bins
- Help resolve operational challenges through practical and creative problem-solving
- Track project time, effort, and operational learnings for end-of-season review
- Document best practices and recommendations for future lake management initiatives
- Provide weekly report to the Operations Manager on the challenges, successes and scope of work completed including unit effort and approximate quantity of plants removed.
- Completing other duties in the park as assigned by Operations Manager.
Requirements
- A valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (boating license)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Must undergo a Police Information Check
Qualifications & Assets
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- The ability to swim and work comfortably in and around water
- Valid First Aid Training Certificate
