Full-Time Maintenance Technician / Handyperson
United Gulf Developments is a property management company with a diverse portfolio of residential apartments, single-family homes, and commercial properties throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
We are seeking a highly skilled, dependable Maintenance Technician/Handyman to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is not an entry-level handyman position. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in residential maintenance, including above-average carpentry, electrical, and plumbing knowledge, as well as the ability to diagnose and repair household appliances.
The successful candidate will work independently, responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues, and completing quality repairs across our residential properties.
Responsibilities
· Perform a wide variety of residential maintenance and repair tasks, including drywall repair, painting, trim work, doors and hardware, flooring repairs, caulking, and general carpentry.
· Troubleshoot and complete plumbing repairs such as replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, clearing minor blockages, and other residential plumbing maintenance.
· Safely diagnose and complete minor electrical repairs, including switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and other residential electrical components within your qualifications.
· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair household appliances, including refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and over-the-range microwaves.
· Complete preventative maintenance and inspections to identify potential issues before they become costly repairs.
· Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests issued by the office,
· Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and follow-up requirements.
· Communicate professionally with tenants, property managers, and contractors while providing excellent customer service.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
· Experience performing residential maintenance and repairs independently.
· Above-basic knowledge and practical experience in carpentry, plumbing, and residential electrical work. You should be comfortable diagnosing problems and completing repairs with minimal supervision.
· Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple service calls, and work independently.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
· Safety-conscious with knowledge of safe work practices.
· Reliable vehicle required for travel throughout the HRM.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as operational needs require.
