The Research Technologist will apply their advanced technical knowledge and skills to perform a variety of complex procedures and experiments and to support the effective operation of the Biotron research facility. The role contributes to all aspects of research activities, including staffing and client coordination, and performs and records the results of specialized techniques, including microscopy and digital imaging. The role will contribute to the compilation, analysis, and presentation of results for dissemination to clients and stakeholders. The Research Technologist will provide expertise and make recommendations regarding optimal methodologies, experimental approaches, and equipment to support research objectives.
The role will provide technical guidance in the development, execution, and analysis of research projects, contributing to the achievement of innovative outcomes associated with the research program. The Research Technologist will support the ongoing operation and optimization of the facility by assisting with the installation, modification, troubleshooting, servicing, and upgrading of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
The Research Technologist will coordinate and deliver training and hands-on technical support related to laboratory techniques and specialized equipment, including microscopy platforms, and will provide guidance and oversight to students and users. The role will collaborate with researchers and clients to support consultations, training, and fee-for-service activities.
The role will contribute to the effective operation of the laboratory by supporting inventory management, procurement of supplies, and maintaining laboratory spaces in a project-ready state, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and established protocols. The Research Technologist will supervise students and support staff, facilitate communication with clients and users, and provide expertise to ensure timely, high-quality research and service outcomes.
