Position Information
The MRO Buyer is responsible for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchasing, inventory management, and operational support of the Stores function. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely procurement of parts and supplies, and continuity of Stores operations by providing shift coverage during vacations and absences. The position supports Maintenance, Production Engineering (PE), and other departments to meet operational, financial, and safety objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Create and manage purchase orders in Oracle based on inventory levels, lead times, and departmental requirements
Inventory Management
- Verify inventory accuracy by comparing system quantities to physical counts; investigate and correct discrepancies
- Conduct and support inventory audits and cycle counts performed by Stores Clerks as required
- Establish and maintain min/max inventory levels for critical spare parts in collaboration with Maintenance
- Create new part numbers in Oracle and eMaint, ensuring accurate data and descriptions
- Maintain electronic record systems by managing obsolete, inactive, and excess inventory
- Assist with stock optimization, including reduction of overstock and migration of high-usage items to vending machines or VMI programs.
- Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete inventory in accordance with company procedures
Receiving, Issuing & Stores Operations
- Receive and verify incoming materials in Oracle and eMaint following Stores Clerk validation
- Issue and distribute materials, parts, and supplies based on approved requisitions
- Determine appropriate storage locations based on turnover rates, safety/environmental requirements (SDS), and facility constraints
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze records related to inventory levels, pricing, shortages, shipments, and usage
- Support “Request to Stock” processes for Maintenance, PE and other departments
- Follow up with suppliers to resolve price discrepancies, confirm lead times, and ensure on-time delivery
- Investigate alternative products and suppliers to reduce costs while maintaining quality and availability
- Review weekly finance reports, including Invoice List PendingReceipts and Open POs per Buyer, and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized storage areas in compliance with safety regulations
Shift Coverage & Operational Support
- Provide shift coverage for Stores personnel during vacations, sick leave, or other absences
- Perform full Stores Clerk duties, including receiving, picking, staging, and line support for PMs and projects
- Work closely with Maintenance Planners and the Assistant Manager to stage parts for PMs, shutdowns, and special projects
- Assist Stores team members with daily issues, concerns, and process improvements and Training
- Support 5S initiatives within Stores, including layout improvements and relocation of high-move items for improved accessibility
Cross-Functional & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Support departmental KPIs, financial targets, and overall Aisin Canada Inc. business objectives
- Assist Finance with receiving issues, invoice discrepancies, and pricing concerns
- Participate in inventory-related events and major counts (approximately 2 times per year)
Skills and Experience
- Experience with Oracle Purchasing/Ordering system.
- Experience with eMaint and MP2.
- Experience with MS Suite of programs.
- Excellent time management skills, self-starter, creative and reliable.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Prior Supervisory experience an asset
- Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous.
- Mechanically/Electrically inclined.
- 5s and 3Pillar activity
- JIT Automotive Environment 2-5 Year’s experience
