About the Role
The Head of School is the proactive leader who will oversee the academic programs and administration of the campus to ensure overall success of the school. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills who likes to engage and mentor people. They will be service focussed, highly adaptable and will enjoy solving problems and working on diverse projects.
Summary of essential job functions
· Oversee the academic programs at Bronte College including the daily operations of all academic related classes and activities of the school.
· Oversee the campus life programs and integrating Bronte College’s vision throughout the school day and after school for the campus life students.
· Ensure Ministry of Education standards are exceeded throughout the school while Maintaining consistency, fairness and a level of education that exceeds the expectations of students and parents.
· To lead the academic team (Teachers, Department Heads, Academic Coordinators, Teaching Assistants, Student Services team, Academic Administrative Assistants, etc.).
· To ensure that the health, safety and well being of all students are being addressed in a prompt and courteous manner at all times.
· To ensure communication with parents, agents and students is in a time sensitive manner to ensure client service.
· To be a representative for the school (e.g. meeting prospective students/parents, attend fairs, attend open houses, school visits, etc.).
Key Accountabilities/ Activities
· Responsible for the overall Academics of the school.
o Ministry of Education standards are exceeded throughout including curriculum, reports,
o Education of students is consistent, fair and of a high level that exceeds the expectations of students and parents.
o Required Ministry of Education reports are filed accurately and on time.
o Ensure extra-curricular activities are an integral part of the Academic program.
· Lead and manage the academic team of the school.
o Respond and give direction to the academic team.
o Interview and select Academic Staff (Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Administrative staff, etc.).
o Supervise the academic staff of the school.
o Assist in developing policies and procedures.
o Interpret, implement and administer departmental policies.
o Leading staff meetings and Department Head meetings.
o Ensuring performance appraisals for Academic Staff are fair and consistent.
· Responsible for the Campus Life team exceeding the objectives of the Campus Life department.
o Interpret, implement and administer departmental policies.
o Approve well-planned and attended trips and activities that meet the guidelines and budgets.
o Ensure student life and safety are looked after school.
o Ensure the evening study session and activities are executed effectively.
o Interview and select Campus Life Staff as required.
· Primary contact between the school and the Ministry of Education.
· Primary contact between the school and Partner schools.
o Visit Partner Schools as scheduled.
o Seminars, staff training, student interviews as required.
· Oversee the Advanced Placement (AP) Program.
o Ensure the educational principles, standards and practices are maintained and furthered.
o Review curriculum to ensure it meets the ongoing changing needs of our students and parents.
o Ensure teachers are properly trained and delivering the AP Program.
o Assist with future developments in the AP Program.
· Develop, maintain, update and oversee processes for communication amongst staff.
· Educating academic staff of different school programs (i.e. Advanced Placement (AP), tutoring, summer camp) and able to speak about and answer questions about the programs.
· Communicate feedback from parents/students with related teams.
· Ensuring the health and safety regulations are being met at the school.
o Regular building interior and exterior inspections.
o Training all staff on safe working procedures and keeping accurate records.
o Ensuring health and safety policies (e.g. fire plans, etc.) are up-to-date.
o Member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
· Assist with marketing efforts.
o Attending open houses and providing information for potential parents.
o Attending overseas visits including but not limited to fairs, visiting schools, etc.
o Providing details about Bronte College and Educating academic staff of different school programs (i.e. Advanced Placement (AP), tutoring, summer camp) and able to speak about and answer questions about the programs.
· Ensure students are abiding by the Bronte College Code of Behaviour at all times.
o Providing higher level discipline (e.g. suspensions, expulsions, etc.) as required.
· Working Closely with all the Department Heads.
· Available and on call 24/7 for emergencies.
· To complete any additional duties assigned by the Managing Director.
Working Conditions
· Hours of work: weekdays 8:00am to 4:00pm; evening and weekend hours may be required for school dances, parent teacher nights, staff meetings, curriculum nights, open houses.
· Travel will be required; Partner school visits, education fairs (overseas), etc.
Minimum Requirements
· Five years of administration experience.
· Principal’s qualification program or a master’s degree is required.
· Undergraduate Degree from a university.
· Ontario College of Teachers certified and in good standing.
· Excellent command of the English language.
· Experience using a computer and computer applications.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
