Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in South Surrey, BC. The Legal Assistant will support lawyers with day-to-day file management, including drafting, formatting, and organizing legal documents and correspondence. Responsibilities include maintaining and updating client files, scheduling appointments and court dates, managing calendars, and coordinating communications with clients and external parties. The role also involves conducting basic legal and factual research, preparing document packages, and ensuring that deadlines and filing requirements are met. The Legal Assistant will collaborate with other team members, uphold confidentiality standards, and contribute to the smooth operation of the firm’s administrative and legal processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in law and legal procedures, with experience or education related to Legal Assistants.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing legal forms and correspondence.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Administrative Assistance skills, including calendar management, file organization, data entry, and document management.
- Relevant post-secondary education in legal administration, paralegal studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail, with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Comfort with legal practice management software, Microsoft Office, and electronic file systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
