Position Scope:
NACG is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic to join our dynamic and industry leading organization.

You can earn up to $62.70 per hour(includes base rate, Living Out Allowance, pension, training, vacation and general holiday pay, tool allowance and health and wellness – benefits, dental and disability). Successful candidates will also receive $225.00 per year of Boot Allowance.
Site: Fort McMurray Town Shop
Schedule: 14x14 (Day shift)
Accommodations: Camp not provided
Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 per week.
The successful candidate will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.
NACG also offers an Employee Referral Program, an employee may be eligible to receive a referral bonus if he / she refers an eligible candidate for a posted Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) position in the Acheson Shop and/or Fort McMurray area with NACG. Each successful referral will result in a payment of $2,500.
Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all light vehicles
-
Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions

Trouble shooting systems to determine faults and extent of repair
-
Overhauls on vehicles as required
-
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications

Develop work scopes and schedules for vehicles to be repaired
-
Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of vehicles as required

Assist Foreman in day to day operations
-
Fill in when foreman is away if designated lead
-
Complete reports and fill out work orders when required
-
Teach and evaluate apprentices
-
Follow NACG's codes of practice and safety procedures
-
Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
Qualifications:
- Must be 18+ years of age and have a valid class 5 licence
-
Valid (Journeyperson) Automotive ticket
-
Experience with the lates ford & GM diagnostic systems would be a great asset
-
Experience in maintaining & repairing Ford, GM & Dodge 1/2ton to 1ton pickup trucks would be a great asset
-
Experience in maintaining & repairing Ford, GM & Dodge mechanic service trucks- F550’s & 5500 would be considered an asset
-
Experience & proficiency in using online service information & parts manuals examples : Fleet Ford, Ford Micro cat, GM SI , All Data. Would be considered a great asset

Experience in maintaining & diagnosing & repairing Automotive Diesel engines & emission systems would be an asset
-
Experience in troubleshooting & repairing automotive Air Conditioning systems would be an asset

Valid CSO or BSO safety training

Must provide own tools

Strong verbal and written communications skills

A creative approach to problem solving; adaptability and flexibility

Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures

Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
PREVIOUS MINING EXPERIENCE PREFERED. SELF STARTER, REQUIRING MINIMAL SUPERVISION.

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.
All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract

VOID cheque/direct deposit form
Once dispatched the following processes will occur:

Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing

An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out

After all results are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site specific details.
