Job Posting: Hospitality Staff (Casual)
Location: Charles W. Stockey Centre, Parry Sound ON
Located amidst the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay and a 2.5 hour-drive north of Toronto, the Town of Parry Sound offers an exceptional quality of life. Join the Hospitality team in a Casual position at the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts. This position will be on an as-needed basis.
The successful applicant will provide excellent customer service for all bar patrons; complete bar sales transactions; open, close and restock the bar for scheduled events; and maintain the cleanliness of work and inventory storage areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides efficient and professional customer service to all patrons requiring bar service during shifts.
- Ensures that the serving of alcohol complies with the SMART Serve training regulations.
- Ensures that all bar sales transactions are processed through the bar cash register.
- Following procedures, opens and closes the bar service for scheduled events.
- Restocks all bars as needed during shifts and in coordination with other hospitality staff on duty.
- Ensures that kitchen, storage facilities and other work areas are kept clean and conform to the health and safety regulations.
- Assists to ensure the set up of hospitality areas is complete prior to the event ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Other duties as requested by the General Manager.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Smart Serve training.
- Up to three(3) month’s experience in a hospitalitiy role, serving alcohol and handling cash.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle over-lapping tasks.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Good knowledge of computer applications including cash register operation and experience handling cash.
- Experience working with a diversified community group base and volunteers.
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation relative to the Hospitality area.
- Knowledge of legislation relating to AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) as it relates to the Hospitality Area.

Working Conditions:
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving inventory of light (under 20lbs) and medium (20-35 lbs) items and occasionally heavy weight (over 35 lbs) items.
- Work environment has minimal or no disagreeable working conditions; work is in view of the public; with frequent public contact; and is subject to deadlines and interruptions.
- Work is subject to unusual and unscheduled hours.
Compensation:
This opportunity is a permanent non-union part-time casual job with a rate of $24.84 per hour. The work schedule for this position varies, including evening and weekend shifts with no guarantee of weekly hours.
