Overview
Willistead Family Dental is a busy, modern, multi-doctor dental practice in Walkerville, Windsor. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dental Assistant Level II to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an experienced assistant who takes initiative, enjoys leadership, and is confident overseeing the clinical side of a fast-paced dental practice while supporting both patients and team members.
In this position you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of clinical care, ensuring compliance with RCDSO and Public Health Ontario guidelines, and supporting efficient daily clinical operations. You will work closely with multiple dentists, assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to keep the office running smoothly
Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance for a wide range of procedures including restorative dentistry, crown and bridge, endodontics, prosthodontics, implants, and pediatric dentistry
- Contribute to our dental assisting team, supporting workflow, communication, and efficiency
- Manage and maintain strict IPAC and sterilization protocols in accordance with Public Health Ontario, Ministry of Health, and RCDSO guidelines
- Perform and assist with dental radiography, including digital X-rays and CBCT imaging
- Operate and assist with intra-oral scanning and digital dentistry workflows
- Prepare, organize, and maintain operatories and clinical areas
- Handle lab work including impressions/scans, temporaries, case tracking, and communication with dental labs
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records using Tracker software (experience with other dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft considered an asset)
- Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and post-operative care in a clear and reassuring manner
- Assist with clinical scheduling flow and support front desk operations when needed
- Ensure compliance with all infection control, radiation safety, and clinical documentation requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Level II Dental Assistant certification (Ontario)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a general dental practice; leadership or senior assistant experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical knowledge across restorative, crown and bridge, implants, endo, and pediatric dentistry
- Excellent understanding of IPAC, sterilization, and aseptic techniques
- Comfortable working in a busy, multi-doctor environment
- Experience with intra-oral scanners, digital imaging, and CBCT is an asset
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Ability to take initiative, lead by example, and support a positive clinical culture
