Maple Villa is an independent 93-bed licensed long-term care home located in Burlington, Ontario. Maple Villa is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and has been providing quality resident and family-focused care since 1971. Our interdisciplinary team are committed about the care for our residents, staff, families and volunteers and are consistently reflecting on practices and areas of improvement to provide exceptional, individualized, culturally competent care to our residents and maintain a strong and dedicated health care team.
We are opening a new Home in November 2026 that will support 256 residents in our community! The new Maple Villa is located on Palladium Way in north Burlington.
Job Type:
- Contract – currently 1 day per week increasing to 5 days per week in December, 2026
- Contract details still to be finalized - either flat fee rental of hair salon space inside of Maple Villa, or a percentage of total sales
Summary:
We are seeking a talented and compassionate Hairstylist who is excited to positively impact the lives of seniors while delivering outstanding customer service in a welcoming and growing long-term care environment. Maple Villa has a proud 55 year history in Burlington. We are currently a 70 bed long-term care home under redevelopment and growing to a new 256 bed state of the art home in November, 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional hairstyling and hair cutting services for residents
- Perform men’s cuts and clipper work with confidence
- Deliver exceptional customer service while building positive resident relationships
- Apply adaptive techniques for residents with physical and cognitive disabilities
- Assist residents to and from salon appointments as required, supporting volunteers and providing occasional portering when necessary
- Manage appointment bookings and basic reception duties
- Communicate any problems, incidents, or emergency situations related to service delivery
- Document services provided in accordance with company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements
- Offer emotional support during services to enhance the resident’s quality of life
- Ensure resident safety during service and report concerns to the care team and Manager
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control procedures, ensuring compliance with Public Health standards
- Check equipment for proper working order and recommend repairs or replacements as needed
- Monitor and replenish salon supplies as needed
- Create a welcoming and engaging experience for residents and families
Qualifications - What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience as a hairdresser or barber, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of sanitation standards and procedures.
- Ability to handle residents with patience and compassion.
- Flexibility to accommodate resident schedules.
- Certification or licensing as required by provincial regulations.
- Basic retail or upselling skills are a plus but not mandatory.
- A friendly attitude and team-oriented mindset.
