Summary
The Production Team Leader is responsible for coaching, guiding, and supporting the Production area as directed by the Shift Manager. This role plays a key part in motivating, developing, and empowering team members to achieve operational excellence. Lead Hand will also support continuous improvement initiatives, leverage Industry 4.0 technologies where applicable, and maintain strong manufacturing best practices to deliver safe, high-quality, and efficient production.
Responsibilities
Leadership & People Development
- Coach and mentor team members to meet or exceed performance expectations.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful team environment.
- Resolve conflicts constructively and support strong interpersonal communication.
- Provide effective on-the-job training and continuous skill development.
Production & Process Support
- Provide project support and ensure smooth execution of assigned work.
- Lead daily production activities to ensure quality, safety, and productivity targets are achieved.
- Operate machinery effectively when required.
- Participate in automation, data-driven decision-making, and technology adoption initiatives.
- Identify process inefficiencies and support Lean, 5S activities.
Manufacturing Knowledge & Operational Excellence
- Apply strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and workflow.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and production procedures.
- Support troubleshooting of production issues through technical and practical knowledge.
- Meet requirements as listed on the applicable Competency Document.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in a Manufacturing-related discipline preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum three years of mentoring, coaching, or team leadership experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong people skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
- Industry 4.0 awareness—comfortable working with digital tools, production data, or automated systems.
- Deep manufacturing knowledge, including production processes, equipment operation, and quality principles.
- High level of integrity and work ethic.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
