Role Description
The Seniors’ Resource Centre is seeking a friendly, organized, and community minded Summer Student to join our team as a Front Desk Clerk/Receptionist for approximately 9 weeks. This is a wonderful opportunity for a young person who enjoys helping others, thrives in a busy environment, and wants meaningful experience supporting seniors in our community.
The Front Desk Clerk/Receptionist is the first point of contact for seniors, volunteers, and community members. The ideal candidate is warm, patient, and able to stay focused in a sometimes busy and noisy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide welcoming, respectful reception to seniors and visitors
- Answer phones and direct inquiries with clarity and professionalism
- Book appointments and maintain schedules
- Support staff with administrative tasks
- Assist with research and information gathering as needed
- Maintain organized files and front‑desk systems
- Multitask effectively in a dynamic environment
Required Skills & Qualities
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working with seniors
- Strong organizational abilities
- Self‑starter with good judgment
- Able to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Research and information‑finding skills

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs Requirements:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment, AND
- Clear a Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Adults submitted by the Centre

The Seniors Resource Centre (Salmon Arm) Society is dedicated to supporting seniors and their families by providing access to programs and resources that promote independence, well-being, and social connection within the Salmon Arm community. Powered by passionate volunteers, the Centre offers a variety of programs, including Day Away, Medical Drives, Foot Care, Income Tax Preparation, Monday Market, and Better Meals. These services aim to enhance quality of life and address the unique needs of seniors and their families.
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
