Overview
We are looking for a passionate, community-minded Barista to join our bakery team. You aren't just making coffee; you are the first point of contact for guests starting their day on our historic estate. You will pair our premium coffee offerings with our famous house-made baguettes and croissants, ensuring every guest feels like part of the Ravine family. This position will report to the Head Baker.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages to Ravine’s high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Develop a deep knowledge of the daily bake—including sourdoughs, laminated doughs, and seasonal treats—to provide thoughtful recommendations and pairings.
- Provide exceptional, personable service that reflects our "warm family farm" atmosphere as a storyteller of our history and products.
- Efficiently manage the Point of Sale (POS) system for café service, handle cash/card transactions, and manage pre-orders for bakery items.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of Ravine’s wines, estate history, and organic farming practices to accurately answer guest inquiries.
- Keep the bakery café, counter space, and seating areas pristine, organized, and inviting.
- Perform essential opening and closing duties, including espresso machine calibration, equipment cleaning, and inventory restocking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a barista in a specialty café or high-end hospitality environment.
- Valid Smart Serve and Food Handler certifications are considered assets.

- Multitasking: Must be able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while providing the best possible service.
- Adaptability: Able to accept changing conditions and new information in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical: Will be required to go long periods without rest and may occasionally lift or move objects over 25LBS.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available to work early mornings, weekends and holidays on a regular basis.
- Schedule will include shifts Thursday – Monday 7:30AM – 11:30AM.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $18.50 - $19.50
- Included in our Bakery controlled tip system
