About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Security System Technician to join our team on a flexible, as-needed basis. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who wants control over their schedule while working on a variety of installation, service, and troubleshooting jobs for residential and commercial clients.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, and configure security systems (alarms, CCTV/video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection)
- Troubleshoot and repair existing systems, including wiring, panels, sensors, and cameras
- Run and terminate low-voltage cabling
- Test systems for proper function and walk clients through system operation
- Diagnose false alarms and connectivity/network issues
- Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
- Communicate professionally with clients and dispatch/office staff
- Follow all safety codes and local licensing requirements
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience installing/servicing security systems
- Working knowledge of major systems/brands (e.g., Honeywell, DSC, Alarm.com, Hikvision, or similar)
- Familiarity with low-voltage wiring, networking basics (IP cameras, routers), and access control hardware
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Own basic hand tools (specialty tools provided as needed)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule
Preferred
- Low-voltage or alarm installation certification
- Experience with both residential and commercial installs
- Basic understanding of local alarm permitting and fire code integration
