Job Description
As a prep cook in our Toronto commissary kitchen, you'll work independently and collaboratively to execute high-volume meal production. You will be responsible for:
- Workstation Setup: Prepare and organize the workstation with necessary ingredients and equipment.
- Breaks & Overtime: take scheduled breaks as instructed, and obtain approval for any overtime or schedule adjustments.
- Food Preparation: Measure, weigh, mix, chop, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and company standards.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
- Food Safety & Storage: Follow food safety policies for storing and handling food to maintain quality and safety.
- Portioning & Plating: Portion, weigh, and plate food accurately according to guidelines.
- Quality Control: Check the quality and taste of ingredients and prepared food items.
- Sanitation & Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all cooking equipment and work areas.
- Professional Conduct: Uphold company values by maintaining a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor with colleagues and management.
- Punctuality & Attendance: Adhere to scheduled shifts and communicate promptly regarding any delays or schedule changes.
- 1+ years of experience in professional kitchens (restaurants, catering, or large-scale production)
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification (required)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a collaborative spirit
- Must be available to work weekends

Schedule
- Part-time, in-person role
- 8-hour shifts, including weekends. Fri-Sat
- Day shifts primarily, with flexibility
Compensation
- Starting at $18.00–$19.00/hour, depending on experience
- Overtime pay available
