Compensation: From $55,000 to $85,000 per annum according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at Client's Downtown Toronto office, near TTC station.
Responsibilities Summary:
Provide legal administrative support services to a well established plaintiff personal injury litigation practice focused on both Accident Benefits and Tort litigation. Will support three senior lawyers, working in coordination with another senior legal assistant.
- Manage Accident Benefits and Tort files from intake through litigation and trial preparation.
- Prepare pleadings, affidavits, productions, motion materials, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct extensive dictation/transcription with strong speed and accuracy.
- Coordinate calendars, appointments, discoveries, mediations, IMEs, and client meetings using Calendly and internal systems.
- Prepare and manage filing deadlines in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Communicate professionally with clients, insurers, medical offices, opposing counsel, and experts.
- Utilize PC Law for file management, billing, and related administrative tasks.
- Maintain physical and electronic file records with accuracy and organization.
- Additional personal injury legal assistant responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Diploma in Legal Administration or related field, or applicable combination of work experience and education.
Preferred Work Experience: Between 5-10+ years of experience supporting a personal injury (AB and Tort) practice.
Preferred Sector Experience: Law Firm experience required.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Fast and accurate typing skills and attention to detail (will be tested).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word (may be tested).
- Sound knowledge of legal terminology (may be tested).
- Proficiency with WordPerfect an asset.
- Proficiency in PC Law, WordPerfect and Calendly (preferred).
- Strong dicta transcription skills.
- Experienced in managing and organizing physical paper files in addition to digital records.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing skills and excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Experience with both Accident Benefits and Tort claims, demonstrating a clear understanding of their differences.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and documentation requirements.
- Experience with LAT matters and mediation preparation.
- Familiarity with insurer correspondence and medical documentation.
- Punctual, responsible, and reliable. Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character.
- Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates.
- Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgment in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Superior attention to detail and an organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a diverse range of professional contacts and clients.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work 100% onsite, at client's downtown Toronto office.
