Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team of Educators who are dedicated to supporting children and families by providing high quality childcare in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.
Our dedicated Educators build authentic relationships with children, families, team members and the professional community. The educators provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their development through engaging educational activities; where children are seen as capable and competent, are respected as individuals, and are provided with opportunities to be creative, innovative, and inquisitive through all of their senses and at their own pace.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment for children, who will encourage socialization, enhance learning, and who have strong programming skills in a play-based, emergent environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote learning through play and exploration.
- Demonstrating principles from the “How Learning Happens” document, and Code Of Ethics.
- Making meaningful observations and documenting children's physical, emotional, and social development
- Planning and implementing a co-constructed curriculum and environment inspired by Emergent curriculum and the children’s interests
- Respecting the child through positive interactions and viewing each child as competent and capable
- Responding spontaneously to children in various group settings
- Implementing the program routine with a positive and consistent approach
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a supportive learning environment.
- Provide support for children with special education needs by adapting lessons and materials as necessary.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom atmosphere that respects diversity.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to share best practices and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Supporting student teaching placements with guidance and feedback
- Maintaining the standards enforced by the Ministry of Education and Thunder Bay Health Unit. This includes ensuring equipment and facilities are always clean and safe, ensuring logbooks and required recordings concerning classroom, playground, children, and parental/caregiver interactions are maintained throughout each day for incident reporting and future clarification purposes.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Child Care and Early Years Act and the How Does Learning Happen? pedagogical document
- Standard First Aid and CPR level C (with infant and child CPR) certification
- Current (within 6 months), clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
- Up-to-date immunization record
- Ability to work well individually as well as on a team
- Flexibility
- Experience working in early childhood education settings is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills to guide children effectively in their learning journey.
- Ability to educate diverse groups of children while promoting inclusivity within the classroom.
- High level of attention to confidentiality
- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their developmental milestones.

$25.86
