Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Lead to oversee and enhance safety protocols across our construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies to ensure a secure working environment for all team members. This role requires strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of construction safety standards, and proficiency with construction management software. The Health and Safety Lead will play a critical role in fostering a safety-first culture while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety policies tailored to construction sites.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and enforce corrective actions.
- Lead safety training sessions for new and existing employees to promote awareness of best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or safety violations, documenting findings and recommending preventative measures.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to integrate safety protocols into daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety activities, inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure company compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant legislation.
- Utilize construction management software to track safety metrics, manage documentation, and streamline communication related to health and safety initiatives.
- Health and Safety Administration, including but not limited to frontend and start-up Health and Safety documents using the Corfix platform, managing and updating large volume of training certificates, and track and report project metrics.
- Provide training for certifications, wherever possible.
- Assist in obtaining COR certification.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction safety management or related roles within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge and complete understanding of federal and provincial Health and Safety regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with construction management software for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Good leadership skills with the ability to influence positive safety behaviors across diverse teams.
- Excellent communication skills for conducting training sessions, meetings, and reporting to senior management.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies.
- Possess all current Health and Safety training certificates required for site work, including Working at Heights.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required. This may include interprovincial travel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
