Fancy Floors Ltd. is looking for a detail-oriented Flooring Estimator / Project Administrator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with flooring, construction, estimating, or project coordination experience who understands how jobs move from blueprint to quote to installation.
The primary focus of this position is estimating flooring projects, with some light administrative and project support duties. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as this role involves regular communication with clients, builders, designers, suppliers, installers, and internal team members.
This position is best suited for someone who is largely self-reliant, organized, and comfortable working independently. While training and support will be provided, the ideal candidate should be able to manage their own workload, ask clear questions when needed, and take ownership of tasks from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, blueprints, specifications, site photos, and project details
- Complete flooring takeoffs and estimates for residential, commercial, multi-family, and custom projects
- Prepare accurate material quantities, labour estimates, and quote packages
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, builders, designers, suppliers, installers, and team members
- Write clear emails, quote notes, change order details, and project documentation
- Work with suppliers to confirm product availability, pricing, lead times, and technical details
- Support the sales and project team with job setup, documentation, and coordination
- Enter and maintain project information in company software
- Assist with change orders, revisions, and basic project administration
- Manage assigned tasks independently and follow through without constant supervision
- Help ensure estimates are accurate, organized, and completed on time
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Flooring estimating
- Measure Square
- FloorZap
- Flooring installation
- Flooring products including hardwood, carpet, laminate, vinyl plank, sheet vinyl, carpet tile, and commercial flooring
- General construction knowledge
- Reading blueprints and construction drawings
- Quantity takeoffs
- Supplier pricing and product sourcing
- Project coordination or administrative support
Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role is organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be willing to learn, ask questions, solve problems, and take ownership of the details.
You should be:
- Detail-oriented and careful with numbers
- Comfortable reading plans and specifications
- Able to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully in both written and spoken English
- Confident writing emails, documenting project details, and asking clear questions
- Largely self-reliant and comfortable working independently
- Able to manage your own workload and prioritize tasks
- Organized with files, emails, quotes, and project information
- Able to manage multiple projects at once
- Comfortable using computers and learning software
- Familiar with construction timelines and jobsite expectations
- Interested in flooring, interiors, and building materials
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential
- Previous experience in flooring, construction, estimating, or project administration preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is strongly preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a team when needed
- Valid driver’s license is an asset but not required
