Job Summary
The Camp Manager is directly accountable to the Camp Operations Manager (or designate). As the on-site leader, the Camp Manager oversees the daily operations of the Musselwhite Mine camp. They serve as a liaison between Windigo Catering LP and Musselwhite Mine representatives, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality food, hospitality, janitorial, and support services. The Camp Manager is responsible for maintaining exceptional standards in food quality, presentation, and service, in addition to supervising staff, managing logistics, and ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of day-to-day camp operations at Musselwhite Mine.
- Report on operational performance, issues, and achievements to the Camp Operations Manager.
- Lead, schedule, and supervise staff across all departments (kitchen, housekeeping, janitorial, laundry, etc.).
- Oversee payroll, staffing plans, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Monitor occupancy levels and adjust staffing and supplies accordingly.
- Enforce compliance with Windigo and client policies, occupational health and safety regulations, and food safety legislation.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, well-presented, and nutritionally balanced meals that meet client expectations and dietary requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen operations, food storage, and service areas to ensure cleanliness, proper handling, and presentation standards.
- Respond to and resolve client concerns in a timely, professional manner.
- Ensure high standards in camp cleanliness, hygiene, and hospitality services.
- Coordinate with maintenance/site services to resolve facility issues promptly.
- Manage and monitor inventory levels; implement efficient and cost-effective purchasing strategies.
- Oversee laundry operations, coverall distribution, and room readiness.
- Complete administrative tasks, including documentation, reporting, and scheduling.
- Participate in emergency response planning, safety meetings, and drills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Operations Manager or designate.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in camp, hospitality, or remote site management.
- Proven leadership in supervising and motivating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of food service operations, including menu delivery, dietary compliance, food handling, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and client service abilities.
- Strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and travel logistics software.
- Valid Food Safety and First Aid certifications (asset).
