THE OPPORTUNITY
Prominence Way Retirement Community, located in Calgary, Alberta is actively seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our growing team.
Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Clinical Resource Nurse is responsible for providing orientation and continuous learning opportunities for all site staff members. The Clinical Resource Nurse will also evaluate clinical staff competencies on an ongoing basis and promote the use of best practice standards, in conjunction with contractual and legislative requirements, as well as Signature Retirement Living policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes and supports evidence-based practice inclusive of Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services standards.
- Acts as a role model for staff; encourages staff to explore innovative approaches to meet resident goals and identify learning needs, and facilitates continuing learning opportunities for professional growth.
- Promotes a safe and respectful workplace.
- Promotes and engages in quality improvement programs.
- Attends relevant meetings and committees, including the ones assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Care.
- Fosters resident centered care, recognizing unique resident situations and complexity of care delivery in the residences.
- Coordinates and completes assessments of prospective residents to the community (in collaboration with Marketing), when requested by the Director of Care.
- Coordinates designated assisted living admissions through the use of Pathways software, when requested by the Director of Care.
- Attends care conferences and hospital visits, where appropriate, when requested by the Director of Care.
- Recommends need for policy, procedure and guideline development/revision.
- Supports care team to resolve complex resident/family issues.
- Works with the Director of Care as a site-based case management official for all residents receiving care services.
- Completes assigned reporting, both internally and externally.
- Provides ongoing mentoring, support and role modeling for the care team.
- Develops, implements and evaluates mandatory education, as per contractual, legislative and Signature Retirement Living requirements.
- Participates in an RN-On Call rotation.
- Implements and evaluates care delivery systems and strategies.
- Completes ongoing training to provide staff with the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide care as negotiated and assigned.
- Acts as the site infection prevention and control representative, both internally and externally.
- Acts as the Co-Chair for the site based Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Promotes team work and team spirit, in line with the organizational mission, vision, and values.
- Provides support during emergencies.
- Provides incident follow-up, as directed by the Director of Care.
- Maintains all in-service education records.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
- Proof of active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) must be produced each year.
- Baccalaureate of Nursing preferred.
- Current certification in First Aid BLS and CPR.
- Proven experience leading a diverse group of regulated and unregulated care providers.
- Experience in seniors’ care, retirement living, supportive living, or long term care.
- Experience in adult education is preferred.
- Self initiative, strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to provide a police check with vulnerable sector screen, TB test results, and a record vaccination for COVID-19 (minimum 2 doses) upon hire.

Pay: $83,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
