Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director, Integrated Pharmacy Services, the Virtual Pharmacy Lead is responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight, and clinical support for Rexall's Virtual Pharmacy program. This role leads a team of Virtual Care Pharmacists, drives the implementation and optimization of pharmacy-led healthcare programs, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance patient access to care and clinical service delivery.
The Virtual Pharmacy Lead works collaboratively with Professional Practice, Business Development, Pharmaceutical Partnerships, Patient Contact Centre, Rexall Direct, and Clinic Pharmacist Leads to ensure exceptional patient experiences, regulatory compliance, and successful execution of virtual and in-person healthcare services. This role is responsible for fostering a high-performing team culture, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and advancing Rexall's integrated pharmacy services strategy.

Principal Responsibilities:
Virtual Care Operations:

Oversee day-to-day operations of Virtual Pharmacy Services.

Provide clinical guidance and support for Virtual Care Pharmacists

Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based care consistent with provincial regulations and standards of practice.

Maintain clinical knowledge regarding immunizations, minor ailments, chronic disease management, travel health, medication management, and emerging pharmacy scope changes.

Support the design, implementation, evaluation, and optimization of pharmacy-led clinical programs.

Develop workflows, clinical pathways, educational materials, documentation standards, and operational procedures.

Support quality assurance activities, clinical audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team and Performance Leadership:

Routinely monitor and report service levels, patient experience metrics, and quality indicators.

Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching discussions, and development planning.

Support employee engagement initiatives and promote a high-performing team culture.

Participate in recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and workforce planning activities.

Drive adoption of new clinical services and identify opportunities to improve patient access to care.
Program Development and Implementation:

Support in content creation of clinical programs as required.

Support implementation and ongoing management of vendor-sponsored programs.

Collaborate with Business Development, Pharmaceutical Partnerships, Pharmacy Operations, Marketing, external partners, Patient Contact Centre, Rexall Direct, Clinic Pharmacist Leads, and store teams to create a seamless patient journey and support successful program execution.

Identify and implement workflow efficiencies through technology and process improvements.
Knowledge, skills and experience:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

Licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

3 – 5 years relevant pharmacist experience

Injection certification required.

Additional certifications in prescribing, chronic disease management, travel health, diabetes education, or other clinical areas considered an asset.

Experience implementing pharmacy clinical programs and healthcare initiatives.

Experience working with virtual care platforms, telehealth services, or digital health solutions considered an asset.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with patients and colleagues

Proficient computer skills including, Pharmacy Dispensing Software (PropelRx), Patient Centre, Microsoft-365 Suite, and virtual care and digital health platforms.
Context and Environment:

This position requires an understanding of the role and scope of practice of pharmacists in the community setting.

The position requires the confidence and clinical knowledge when dealing with patients with complex medical conditions and goals of therapy.

Supports both virtual and in-person pharmacy service delivery models.

May require occasional travel to support meetings, clinic events, training sessions, or project implementation activities.
