We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Forklift Operator with experience handling pulp and paper rolls and supporting warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of material handling procedures, warehouse management practices, and the specific care required when transporting large paper rolls, unloading rail cars, and loading export containers to prevent damage and ensure workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and specialized attachments (e.g., clamp trucks) to safely move, load, and unload pulp and paper rolls
- Unload rail cars safely and efficiently while ensuring proper handling and documentation
- Load shipping containers for export, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of cargo
- Support warehouse management activities including inventory control, stock organization, and layout optimization
- Assist with receiving, shipping, and documentation processes
- Inspect loads to ensure stability and prevent product damage
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Follow all workplace safety regulations and company procedures
- Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to meet operational goals
- Keep work areas clean and free of hazards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of forklift operating experience in an industrial or warehouse environment
- Proven experience handling pulp and paper rolls using clamp attachments
- Experience unloading import rail cars and loading containers for export shipments
- Experience with warehouse management, including inventory tracking and stock control
- Valid forklift operator certification/license
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards, load securement, and export loading practices
- Ability to operate equipment in tight spaces with high accuracy
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pulp and paper mills or related manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of roll grading, storage, and damage prevention techniques
- First Aid and workplace safety certifications (considered an asset)
- Previous experience coordinating or leading warehouse activities
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
- Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually
Work Environment
