Roadtrek Inc. is currently recruiting for an R&D Electrical Technician to join its team. The primary role will be to coordinate and implement prototype builds. This full-time position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Responsibilities may Include:
- Design and implement existing & custom wiring harnesses, including routing, termination, and integration into RV prototype platforms.
- Create engineering drawings using Solidworks and/or Draftsight.
- Perform hands-on fabrication and assembly of RV prototypes, supporting mechanical and electrical integration across systems.
- Develop and validate plumbing system layouts for RV prototypes, including water distribution and propane routing, in compliance with CSA and RVIA requirements.
- Support end-to-end prototype builds, including electrical installation, testing, and system commissioning.
- Install and connect lighting systems, power distribution components, batteries, and control modules within vehicle chassis.
- Execute functional testing, troubleshooting, and validation of new and existing electrical systems to ensure performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with design engineers to translate concepts into working electrical systems and layouts.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with NFPA 1192 RVIA, CSA Z240 and/or other related industrial or internal quality standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement of electrical designs, improving safety, serviceability, and manufacturability.
- Assist in prototype documentation, including wiring schematics, test reports, and build instructions.
- Work closely with the cross-functional R&D team to meet product development timelines and milestones.
- Support sourcing activities by evaluating supplier components and ensuring suitability for RV electrical and mechanical systems.
- Train production associates and assist to resolve production issues as requested.
- Ability to travel for work within Canada and the United States.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- College diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology
- 3–5 years of experience using DraftSight and SolidWorks
- 3–5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Electrically and mechanically inclined with good math skills
- Experience using power & hand tools is an asset
- Excellent manual dexterity and an eye for detail
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as required
- Maintain a safe and tidy work area
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by the Manager in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Work effectively with the members of the R&D team and other departments to meet product development timelines
