Summary
We are seeking a dedicated X-ray/Medical Radiation Technologist to join our team at Bio-Test Laboratory at our Bells Corners location. In this vital role, you will contribute to providing exceptional diagnostic imaging services that support patient care and medical research. The Medical Radiation Technologist, under general direction of the Laboratory Manager, is responsible for the performance of radiographic and related duties, operating as part of a dynamic scientific team. The successful candidate will be a quality oriented, organized individual offering creative and innovative solutions that positively contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment. The Medical Radiation Technologist will ensure adherence to policy and protocol, in accordance with CMRITO professional standards of practice, and compliance with federal and provincial regulations. This individual will employ a hands-on approach and offer qualified expertise in supporting the delivery of quick, reliable service to clients and patients.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray, radiographic and related processing equipment to produce radiographs or anatomic images of the human body for the diagnosis by radiologists of disease or injury (we use a DR system at Bio-Test with PACS).
- Record and process patient data.
- Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic processing equipment.
- Ensure the ICHC (Integrated Community Health Services Centres) is well-stocked and resourced.
- Demonstrate proficient use of Medical Imaging computer system (RISS & PACS).
- Observation of strict safety procedures and safety checks, including application of radiation protection measures.
- Ensure day-to-day operations are in compliance with CPSO clinical guidelines.
- Interpreting the order for the test to determine what body parts need imaging.
- Explaining the test to patients and positioning them correctly to ensure the test is properly conducted.
- Review and evaluate images to determine quality and if they need to be redone.
- Setting the controls on X-ray equipment in preparation for imaging.
- Checking X-ray images and retaking them as needed to ensure clarity.
- Cleaning and performing routine maintenance tasks to keep X-ray equipment operating smoothly.
- Sending X-ray images to Radiologists for reading.
- Prepare examination room, equipment, and instruments per patient needs.
- Operate x-ray machine according to established procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Ensure required dosage is minimized to ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Answer patient questions as they relate to the procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, diploma in Medical Radiation Technology, or related discipline.
- Current registration in good standing with College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and recommended registration with CAMRT.
- Working experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT).
- Understanding of patient process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical care.
- High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
- Experience working with MS Office365 suite.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
