We are an award winning independently owned optical boutique in Kerrisdale. We are seeking a fashion forward, knowledgeable and customer-focused Licensed Optician to join our dynamic optical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of optical products, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear solutions. This role offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment dedicated to improving vision health while also providing styling and fashion advice.
Duties
- Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their prescription needs and personal style preferences
- Take precise measurements for fitting eyewear, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments
- Educate patients on lens options, lens coatings, and proper eyewear maintenance
- Verify prescriptions and process orders accurately using optical software systems such as Visual Eyes
- Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and quality checks to ensure proper fit and function
- Manage retail sales transactions, including processing payments and upselling additional products or services
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure all optical equipment is properly sanitized
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, concerns, and insurance inquiries effectively
Requirements
- Valid licensure as an Optician in accordance with provincial regulations
- Proven experience in optical retail sales or laboratory work within an optical setting.
- Familiarity with optical laboratory procedures and equipment operation
- Experience with retail management systems, particularly Visual Eyes or similar platforms
- Excellent sales skills with the ability to educate customers and recommend suitable eyewear solutions
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor that fosters trust with patients and team members
- Having a sense of humour and some acting ability would be an asset that we value
