Indian or South Asian Cook
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Indian or South Asian Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing authentic Indian and South Asian cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and kitchen hygiene. This role is essential in delivering an exceptional dining experience through the preparation of flavorful and authentic dishes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of Indian and South Asian dishes, including curries, biryanis, tandoori items, breads, appetizers, and desserts.
- Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Prepare ingredients, including cutting vegetables, marinating meats, and creating spice blends and sauces.
- Ensure food is cooked and served according to quality and safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor food inventory levels and notify management of shortages.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food products in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Assist with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining attention to detail.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as an Indian or South Asian Cook is preferred.
- Knowledge of traditional Indian and South Asian cooking techniques, spices, ingredients, and recipes.
- Experience preparing vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and specialty regional dishes is considered an asset.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high culinary standards.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding kitchen tasks.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Food Safety Certification is an asset.
