Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran (TSX:ELD) is seeking a (Senior) Ground Control Engineer to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.

As part of the Technical Services Team, the Ground Control Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability and safety of underground mining operations. This position is responsible for designing ground support systems, monitoring ground conditions, and overseeing backfilling operations to minimize the risk of ground instability and ensure safe and efficient mining processes.
Job Responsibilities:

Conduct underground inspections to identify ground control hazards, provide recommendations, and monitor excavation performance.

Ensure compliance with Ground Control standards and manage ground support QA/QC programs, including pull-testing and shotcrete/backfill testing.

Design and recommend ground support systems using rock mechanics principles.

Collect, analyze, and report geotechnical monitoring data while maintaining databases.

Review and support mine and stope designs, sequencing, and excavation stability.

Assist with geotechnical mapping, underground inspections, and core logging programs.

Support ground control training initiatives and geotechnical-related projects.

Assess groundwater conditions and recommend mitigation measures such as grouting and drainage systems.

Review numerical modelling results and provide recommendations related to ground behaviour and support performance.

Support monitoring and assessment of lattice girder systems and tailings storage facility QA/QC.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to engineers within the Ground Engineering team.
Job Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Masters degree in Geomechanics is considered an asset.

3+ years of underground mining experience with a focus on ground control and backfilling.

Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a P.Eng with APEGS.

Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, ground support systems, and backfill materials.

Experience with geotechnical monitoring techniques, data interpretation, and numerical modelling software.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills related to geotechnical challenges.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and site teams.

Ability to work in a dynamic mining environment and adapt to changing operational conditions.

Strong understanding of underground mining safety regulations and commitment to promoting a safety-first culture.
