Cobbett & Cotton Law Corporation, one of the oldest and most respected law firms in Burnaby is conveniently located near Hastings and Willingdon in the Burnaby Heights neighborhood. We are seeking a motivated lawyer with experience in estate planning and administration who is interested in expanding the practice. The successful candidate would be a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia with a minimum of 3 years experience in the estate planning and administration practice area. Ideally the lawyer would be interested in being the leader of the estate planning and administration practice group, help steer business decisions in that practice area, and be involved in professional and community events to help grow the practice.
The successful candidate would maintain and further develop a practice focused on:
1. Estate planning for individuals and families, including wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements
2. Trust planning, including family trusts and alter ego/joint partner trusts
3. Probate and estate administration
4. Advising executors and trustees on their legal duties and obligations
5. Coordinating with our private lending, general conveyancing and corporate teams on matters that touch upon estate planning and administration.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients and build long-term relationships. You would manage your own files and would be expected to manage your support staff and work with management to determine the members of your team.
Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 commensurate with experience, along with a benefits program including extended health and dental coverage.
