Role Overview
The Warehouse Night Lead is responsible for leading overnight warehouse operations at the Calgary terminal. This role oversees night dock activity, including trailer offload, freight staging, re-loading, shipment security, and shift execution to ensure freight is handled safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Night Lead provides hands-on direction to warehouse staff, reinforces health and safety standards, and ensures the dock is organized and ready for the next operational shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all overnight warehouse activities, including dock offload, freight movement, staging, re-loading, and end-of-shift readiness.
- Direct warehouse staff during the night shift to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to operational priorities.
- Oversee trailer unloading and re-loading to support outbound schedules, freight flow, and service commitments.
- Ensure shipments and customer product are handled with care, properly secured, staged, protected, and loaded to reduce damage, prevent movement in transit, and maintain customer standards.
- Enforce health and safety requirements, safe lifting practices, equipment procedures, and dock safety standards throughout the shift.
- Verify freight condition, piece counts, shipment documentation, and staging accuracy; report overages, shortages, damages, or service concerns promptly.
- Use a computer and the company transportation management system to complete required system updates, shipment status changes, documentation notes, and operational reporting during the shift.
- Maintain dock organization, warehouse cleanliness, and safe work areas to support efficient overnight operations and next-day readiness.
- Communicate shift updates, incomplete work, equipment concerns, staffing issues, and operational exceptions to the supervisor or terminal leadership.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of warehouse, dock, transportation, LTL, or terminal operations experience.
- Previous lead-hand, team lead, or supervisory experience in a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of freight handling, trailer loading, unloading, staging, and shipment securement practices.
- Working knowledge of warehouse health and safety standards, safe equipment operation, and damage prevention.
- Forklift experience or certification is considered an asset, depending on operational requirements.
- Ability to work overnight hours, remain organized under pressure, and make sound decisions during off-hours operations.

Working Conditions
This position works on-site in a warehouse and terminal environment during overnight hours. The role requires a visible, hands-on presence on the dock and regular exposure to freight handling, moving equipment, trailer activity, changing temperatures, and operational deadlines. Flexibility may be required based on freight volume, staffing needs, weather impacts, and service requirements.
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
