Clinical Counsellor / Psychotherapist – Ketamine Assisted Therapy (South Surrey)
Part-Time Opportunity
BrainStim Health is seeking an experienced Psychotherapists to join our South Surrey clinic. This role supports expanded access to innovative, evidence‑based mental health care, including ketamine‑assisted psychotherapy (KAP).
Position Summary
The KAP Therapist provides high‑quality, ethically grounded psychotherapy within a ketamine‑assisted treatment model. Working closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and clinical leadership, the therapist supports preparation, in‑session psychological support, and post‑session integration. This role requires advanced clinical judgment, strong relational capacity, and comfort working with trauma, complex mental health presentations, and non‑ordinary states of consciousness.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or Social Work
- Current registration in good standing with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., BCACC, CRPO, NSCCT, College of Psychologists, or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years post‑registration clinical experience
- Fluent, professional English; additional languages an asset
Clinical Experience & Competencies
- Experience with complex mental health presentations (trauma/PTSD, TRD, anxiety, grief, moral injury)
- Strong grounding in at least one evidence‑based modality (e.g., somatic, psychodynamic, ACT, IFS, EMDR, SE, MBT)
- Ability to recognize and respond to trauma arousal states, dissociation, and defensive strategies
- High self‑awareness and comfort working with transference/countertransference
- Trauma‑informed, patient‑centred communication and presence
- Experience with KAP or psychedelic‑informed therapy is preferred (training may be provided)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychotherapy assessments and treatment planning
- Provide preparation, therapeutic presence, and integration sessions for KAP
- Support psychological safety and monitoring during ketamine sessions
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and clinical leadership
- Maintain accurate, regulator‑compliant documentation
- Participate in case reviews and clinical consultations

- Multidisciplinary or medicalized mental health experience
- Additional language proficiency
Employment Details

- Compensation: $50 - $60 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
