Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Auto Body Prepper to join our automotive repair team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicles for painting and repair, ensuring all surfaces are properly cleaned, sanded, and primed to meet quality standards. This role is essential in maintaining efficient workflow and delivering high-quality results for our customers. Prior dealership experience and mechanical knowledge are highly valued, along with familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
Duties
- Clean and sand vehicle surfaces to prepare for painting or repairs
- Mask off areas to protect from overspray during painting processes
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove rust, dents, or damaged panels
- Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle parts or components as needed
- Apply primers and other preparatory coatings accurately and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and productivity
- Collaborate with technicians and body shop staff to facilitate smooth workflow
- Follow safety protocols at all times during preparation tasks
Requirements
- Previous dealership experience in auto body preparation is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair processes
- Proficiency with hand tools such as sanders, grinders, and scrapers
- Experience using power tools safely and effectively in an automotive setting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting of vehicle parts or materials (up to 50 pounds)
- Knowledge of automotive repair procedures and standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety guidelines
