Position Summary: The Material Handler – Team Lead operates material handling equipment, ships, receives and records the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock to and from our warehouse facilities in addition to providing front line support the Warehouse Supervisor through execution of daily workloads, aide in new-hire training and assisting in making procedures efficient.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Stages and prepares shipments in accordance with the shipping schedule and daily shipping instructions.
- Assists the shift supervisor in executing delegated work and provides absence relief for vacation and sick time
- Accurately labels and scans shipments. Performs backup duties (i.e. receiving, admin) as required.
- Audits the condition of each shipment prior to loading. Ensures trucks are loaded properly and safely.
- Ensures all shipments leave on time with the necessary documentation.
- Sends ASNs (advance shipping notice) to customer with customers which this procedure applies to.
- Follows guidelines and rules and performs tasks and responsibilities as detailed in company policies, procedures, work instructions, Employee Handbook, etc.
- Keeps shipping packaging and stock areas organized and neat and manages stock rotation (first in first out).
- Receives incoming packaging materials returned from customers; records receipt; stores it in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Take initiative to assist regular inventory audits as well as spot checks, as required.
- Keeps work area clean and safe. Creates additional space by effectively storing materials.
- Complies with the designated HACCP responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with Brimich HACCP Program.
- Communicates to management when incoming loads arrive without proper documentation/paperwork
- Oversee and answer questions pertaining to order information
- Reports any damages to the facility or to customer/company property to management.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or management.
Health and Safety
- Understands and works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, company Environmental and Health/Safety management systems, policies, rules, and guidelines.
- Performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
- Ensures that all safety regulations with regards to the safe operation of the MHE (including pre-shift inspection) and safe handling of materials are adhered to.
- Always wears prescribed Personal Protective Equipment
Job Specifications—Skills and Competencies:
- Valid lift truck driver license in High Reach Counterbalance
- Grade 12 High school education or equivalent with minimum 1-2 years related experience
- Computer skills include use of MRP system (ASN, Scan, Shipment/receipt entry)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency with speaking, reading & writing English
- Leading daily work orders and delegating tasks as per the Warehouse Supervisor
- Provides coaching on best practices and is responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.
- Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives.
- Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
- Exceptional attendance record
- Capable of safe heavy lifting up to 60lbs
- Fully capable of working in varying temperatures. Temperatures may range anywhere from 2°C to 15°C in most Brimich Warehouses. Brimich Cold Storage buildings may range from 0°C to -30°C.
