BCH continues to transform our contract management approach through the implementation of the BC Hydro Contract
Management Practice and designated Contract Performance Managers. As the Contract Performance Manager (CPM) you
will provide strong oversight on contract compliance and contractor performance to ultimately ensure the services our
business groups require, and the value expected is being realized for BC Hydro. Your accountabilities will include strong
contract and performance oversight, supporting the business’ requirements for quality, safety and reliability, while ensuring
mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
The Contract Performance Managers are accountable for ensuring appropriate contract and contractor management
processes are in place, stakeholders are engaged in their appropriate roles and responsibilities, and performance data is
available to ensure the strategic benefits are realized. To be successful the CPMs support CFM’s management philosophy,
focusing on leveraging constructive, progressive relationships with our contracts by following five principles:
1. Demanding: We expect each other to follow through on commitments
2. Transparent: We share information
3. Collaborative: We share ideas. Input is solicited from our contractors when change is considered
4. Fair: We want our contractors to be successful. We want a fair price for quality work
5. Consistent: What is done for one contractor is done for all. Contractors demonstrate consistent behavior
These 5 principles guide building relationships that establish an equal accountability between BC Hydro and our contractors
with the objective of prompting both organizations to bring their best to the relationship producing value and efficiency for
both. The managers work with Operations, Field Managers and Work Delivery Managers, Operations & Enterprise Category
Management leads, cross-functional teams, Sponsors and Executives to implement and manage multi-year contracts.
The mission of the CPM is to ensure their assigned contracts are meeting performance objectives in support of BC Hydro’s
goals and priorities. To do this the CPM operates like an overall 'owner/manager' of the contract and is an expert both in
understanding the various contract terms and conditions and the value of strategic relationship management. The CPM will
lead and facilitate cross-functional teams in the development, implementation, and execution of contract management
processes. The CPM is responsible for planning and actively assessing, communicating, and managing the category
contracts. Throughout the contract management lifecycle, they are accountable for leading and or contributing to:
- Contractor relationship management: building and managing relationships across internal business groups, stakeholders,
and suppliers. Demonstrates the ability to turn difficult conversations into constructive, mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Contract management leadership: Facilitating Change Management with appropriate stakeholders related to the
implementation of required contract management framework, such as the Contract Management RACI, strengthen
understanding contract formats, pricing structures, scope definitions, general Terms & Conditions, and the ability to clearly
articulate the areas to stakeholders to ensure contract compliance.
- Benefits realization: development and implementation of Contract Management Plans, focusing on the approved category
