Accu-Flo Meter Service Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Field Systems Technician / Electrician to act as a key service representative across Western Canada. This position is a travel-heavy road role designed for a technician who loves solving diverse industrial problems and wants the stability of a specialized service career with great additional earning potential through available overtime.
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across various industrial and commercial projects, representing our company on-site. Your focus will be installing, commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting critical downstream petroleum automation, fuel management, and environmental monitoring infrastructure.
The Travel Reality: This position requires significant field deployment. As a core representative for our clients, you should expect to be on the road upwards of 3 weeks per month servicing municipal yards, industrial hubs, commercial fleet cardlocks, and remote fueling depots.Core Responsibilities
- Client Representation & Service: Act as a professional on-site representative for Accu-Flo, communicating effectively with project managers, contractors, and facility operators to ensure high-quality service and timely project completion.
- Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and complex technical diagrams to execute electrical installations, industrial equipment wiring, and control loop repairs accurately.
- Fuel Management & Automation Systems: Install, commission, and troubleshoot Gasboy Fuel Management Systems (Islander PRIME hardware, Atlas dispensers, RFID/Wi-Fi access gateways).
- Tank Monitoring & Compliance: Install, program, and maintain Veeder-Root Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) systems (TLS-450PLUS). Configure electronic line leak detection, auxiliary sensors, and remote telemetry modules.
- Industrial Wiring & Maintenance: Route conduit, pull wire, and hook up power infrastructure in highly regulated environments. Perform preventive maintenance, routine inspections, and upgrades on electrical systems to minimize client downtime.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic gear safely and efficiently to troubleshoot low-voltage wiring, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), serial communication loops (RS-232/RS-485), and network interfaces.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, professional field documentation of work performed in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade Certification: Valid Journeyperson Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred).
- Industrial Experience: Proven hands-on experience as an electrician in industrial, renovation, or heavy commercial environments.
- Road Warrior Mindset: Explicit willingness and flexibility to travel up to 75% of the month (frequently 3 consecutive weeks on the road).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical codes (specifically Section 20 of the CEC for Class I, Division 1 & 2 Hazardous Locations), blueprint reading, and PLC/low-voltage control systems.
- Industry Assets: Prior experience working on petroleum equipment, fleet cardlocks, or industrial fluid systems (specifically Gasboy or Veeder-Root hardware) is a major asset, but we will train a dedicated industrial electrician. General construction or handyman skills are also advantageous.
- Safety & Requirements: Absolute commitment to zero-compromise safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out, and hazardous location safe practices. Must possess a clean, valid Class 5 driver's license and pass required industrial site drug and background screenings.
