Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cutter/Handler (Meat/Seafood) to join us. As a vital part of our store operations, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and displaying high-quality meat/seafood products according to our production schedules and food safety standards. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with exceptional customer service, ensuring our fresh counter remains stocked, organized, and inviting. You will play a key role in inventory management and maintaining a clean, safe environment that aligns with our organizational excellence goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiently use saws, knives, and other specialized tools to cut, prepare, and wrap various seafood products.
- Stock and rotate products in the display cases, strictly monitoring code dates to pull expired items and adjusting cutting plans based on real-time inventory needs.
- Assist with ordering, unloading, and retrieving stock from freezers/coolers while maintaining accurate inventory control and product rotation.
- Ensure total compliance with Government regulations, Health and Safety, and Food Safety standards, including rigorous department cleanup and sanitation of tools.
- Provide professional service by responding to special requests and offering advice to customers on products preparation and cooking techniques.
- Support the Department Manager in the overall successful operation of the department and perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a meat / seafood processing, grocery, or retail environment is highly preferred. (Candidate with less experience would also be considered)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and work comfortably in temperature-controlled environments.
- Meticulous approach to cutting accuracy, display aesthetics, and monitoring product expiration dates.
- Conversational in English is required, Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of basic workplace safety and a commitment to maintaining a hazard-free environment; must not have allergies to products.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
