EKSCD provides support services for children birth to 5 years of age who attend a licensed or regulated child care program (group daycare, preschool, etc.) and require extra support to meet their individual needs and fully participate with their peers because they have a developmental needs. Support services are also provided to the child care program staff so they can better meet the child’s individual and developmental needs.
Job description
The EKSCD Consultant will be responsible for supporting local community childcare programs and support workers to ensure quality inclusive childcare and the effective implementation of supported child development services. This position will require travel to the Creston area a minimum of once every one to two weeks. There is flexibility for days of travel.

Location: Cranbrook with travel to Creston
Position Summary
The EKSCD Consultant will:
- Adhere to the EKSCD Consultant job description and CCS/EKSCD policies and procedures.
- Implement and monitor the service delivery of the program in the Elk Valley area.
- Encourage and support a team approach that promotes the inclusion of all children.
- Support families in their role as self-advocates and in making informed decisions.
- Liaise with child care services, community partners and professional services.
- Guide, support and supervise the Support Workers
- Report to the EKSCD Regional Coordinator.
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have the following:
- A degree in Early Childhood Development, Child and Youth Care, Special Needs or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children who have developmental delays or disabilities and their families, in a group childcare program.
- Minimum of 2 years experience at designing and implementing goals and individual service plans and report writing.
- Minimum of 2 years experience supervising staff.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
