Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated High School English Tutor to support students in developing their language skills, critical thinking, and writing abilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, excellent communication skills, and experience working with teenagers. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on students’ academic success by providing personalized instruction in English and related language arts.
Responsibilities
- Must be very familiar with Ontario Curriculum English and IB English
- Have good patient with students and parents
- Strong communication skills ability to parents
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions focused on English language, literature, and writing skills
- Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s learning needs and goals
- Assist students with essay writing, reading comprehension, and exam preparation
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation
- Collaborate with parents and teachers to ensure cohesive support for student achievement
- Incorporate multilingual support as needed, including Mandarin, French, Spanish, or Japanese language assistance
Skills
- Strong proficiency in English language arts and literature
- Experience working with children or teenagers in an educational setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an understandable manner
- Classroom experience or tutoring background preferred
- Multilingual abilities such as Mandarin, French, Spanish, or Japanese are a plus
- Demonstrated writing skills with the ability to guide students in improving their essays and reports
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students to reach their full potential
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
