Job Description:
As a Summer Student Job Coach, you will provide personalized support to help members identify career goals, improve job readiness to secure meaningful employment. You will gain hands-on experience in career counseling, resume writing, interview preparation, employer engagement, and workplace support while working with black youth facing barriers to employment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Career Coaching & Job Readiness Support
- Assess members’ skills, work experience, and career interests.
- Assist with goal setting, and job search strategy guidance.
- Assist with resume writing, cover letters, and job applications.
- Conduct mock interviews and offer interview preparation.
2. Employer/Partnership Engagement
- Identify suitable job opportunities and match members with employers.
- Build relationships with local businesses and organizations.
- Research and create database or potential employer leads.
- Help coordinate job fairs, hiring events, or employer networking sessions.
3. Ongoing Job Support & Follow-up
- Monitor clients’ progress in their jobs and address challenges.
- Provide on-the-job coaching for clients needing additional support.
- Assist with workplace accommodations as needed.
- Track employment outcomes and maintain accurate case notes.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary social service program and returning to school in the fall of 2025.
- Experience or strong interest in career advising and job coaching.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of job search techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including Black youth an asset.
- Ability to use resume-building software, job search tools, or career assessment platforms is preferred.
- Knowledge of employment programs and community resources is an asset.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Hybrid role with occasional travel to community and hiring events.
- Includes remote work and virtual coaching sessions.

Wage: $17.60/hour
Reports to: Workforce Development Manager
Duration and Hours: 8 Weeks (35 hours per week)
