Classroom Lead – Grade 1+ (Level 2/3) – Summer Contract
- Location: Calgary, AB – Copperfield
- Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time Summer Contract
- Contract Term: June 2027 – August 2027 (or until the conclusion of the Summer Program)
- Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours per week, scheduled between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Reports To: Assistant Director
COMPENSATION
Compensation for this position is based on certification level and experience.
The employer-paid base wage is:
- $17.00-$19.00 per hour for Level 2
- $18.00-$20.00 per hour for Level 3
Eligible employees may also receive an additional hourly wage top-up through the Alberta Child Care Grant Program:
- $5.05 per hour for Level 2
- $8.62 per hour for Level 3
This is a hybrid educator-driver role. The base wage remains consistent whether performing classroom or transportation duties.
Wage top-ups are not guaranteed and may change in accordance with government funding, role eligibility requirements, or operational needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an energetic and dependable Classroom Lead to lead our Grade 1+ Summer Program.
This role combines:
- Leading a fun and engaging summer program
- Supervising children during field trips and community outings
- Safely driving children to scheduled activities and events
You will help create a safe, structured, and positive environment where children can learn, explore, and enjoy their summer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily programming for Grade 1+ children
- Plan and facilitate games, activities, outdoor play, and special events
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment
- Safely transport children to field trips and community outings
- Supervise children during off-site activities
- Complete attendance records, headcounts, and vehicle inspections
- Support children with diverse learning and support needs
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members
- Follow all licensing, safety, and organizational requirements
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Alberta ECE Level 2 or Level 3 Certification (or eligible to obtain)
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver's Licence
- OR
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Licence with willingness to obtain Class 4 before transporting children
- Clean Driver's Abstract
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Child Intervention Record Check
EXPERIENCE
- 1–2 years of experience working with school-age children in child care, recreation, camps, or Out-of-School Care
- Experience leading groups of children and implementing structured routines
- Experience supporting children with diverse learning or behavioural needs is an asset
- Experience supervising children on field trips or community outings is an asset
- Safe and responsible driving experience
Please Note: This is a temporary summer contract position. Employment will conclude at the end of the summer program unless otherwise extended or transitioned into another role based on operational requirements and mutual agreement.
Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
