Fernie Veterinary Services is looking for a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This dual-role position is essential to our clinic’s success, supporting both front-desk operations and patient care.
Veterinary Receptionist Duties
- Greet clients and handle inquiries by phone, online, and in person with professionalism and empathy
- Triage patients and schedule appointments based on urgency and availability
- Manage patient records, process invoices and payments, and perform daily cash reconciliations
- Educate clients on services, treatments, and over the counter products
Veterinary Assistant Duties
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Provide general animal care, including feeding, grooming, walks, and monitoring post-surgical recovery
- Safely restrain animals and soothe those that are fearful or distressed
- Maintain a clean, sanitized clinic environment and sterilize surgical equipment
- Support inventory, ordering, and restocking efforts
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Customer service experience
- Comfortable working in a clinical setting, including euthanasia support and post-mortem care
- Compassionate, caring individual with a genuine love for helping animals
- Proficiency with computers and software (MS Office, Outlook)
- Team player with a positive attitude, initiative, and a calm demeanor under pressure
- Some Saturday coverage may be required
