Rate of Pay: $32.33 per hour
The start date will follow the selection process.
Main Function: Perform the duties of a bricklayer.
Characteristic: Under the supervision of a Foreperson.
Duties:
1. Lay brick, concrete block, building stone or shaped tile in the construction and maintenance of sewers, manholes, catchbasins, valve chambers, retaining walls or building walls.
2. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
3. Perform other related duties as required.
**NOTE: This classification automatically converts to a Winter Control Position for the Winter Control Period in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years (3) experience as a Bricklayer.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work without direct supervision and carry out all work required in the construction of brick and block manholes, catch basins, valve chambers or retaining walls.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications as required.
- Must be able to effectively complete C.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.

Development opportunity rate of pay: $30.71 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
